So how I landed in La Punta? Of all kind people I've met, the Palomino family is by far one of the most kind I've met in a long time.
As my life has been concentrated in New York the past year, I met and became very close friends with the granddaughter of the family, Alexis.
For a long time it has been my wish to go visiting Peru, and as I planned my trip, Alexis's grandparents, Luis and Mari, invited me to stay at their house in La Punta. A small district of Callao and not very far from Lima, the capital of Peru.
Staying with local peruvians has made my travel even more special than I imagined. Sometimes I even find it hard to express enough, how grateful I am to these people, who barely know me, but out of pure kindness opened their home up to me.
La Punta.
Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean from almost every direction expect northeast, the district is a cute little area. Very secure and peaceful with old beautiful villas. Some are over a hundred years old and all in different colors with fine wooden doors and windows. Hibiscus, palm tress and other greenery pop up between buildings and the beaches. And with just enough restaurants and tiny shops La Punta keeps a small exotic community vibe. No doubt I have come to the right place to relax and wind down after one year of big city life. This place feels like the opposite of New York City.
The Palominos live on the ground floor level of a cute little house only one block from the ocean.
This is their house.
I'm in love with these villas!
Some of the other houses are quite interesting as well..
And pretty funky..
Lots of older cars are to be found in the streets.
